All right. Welcome to the cat dad show. My name is Scott Colby. I am your host. It is great to be here. It has been a while. I know I haven't recorded. An episode in, I don't know how long it's been, at least a couple of months, probably more like three months. And there's a reason for that. I've been working hard on a new project, which I am excited to announce.
Uh, for those of you that want the quick and dirty details, it is called the feline wellness summit. That's right. I'm putting together. a virtual summit of 21 experts in feline wellness. And so we're going to be covering topics anywhere from nutrition to preventative care. We're going to cover behavior and mental wellness, understanding and supporting your cat's mind, uh, holistic and alternative wellness.
And of course, Senior feline care. So that is launching. You can actually sign up for it now if you go to felinewellnesssummit. com. It is a completely free event. The first interviews go live on February 10th. It's a four day event from February 10th, through February 13th. So again, that's feline wellness summit.
in August of: th,:Um, she had a lot of health challenges, so I knew the end was coming, and she did live to 20. But I was scared to come home because in the first time in 20 years, I was coming home to nobody. I lived by myself. When Nomar passed away, I still had Mia. When Mia passed away, I had nobody. So I actually slept on a friend's sofa for three and a half months because I was scared to come home.
As I've been able to process my grief as the months have gone by, I have found myself wanting to do things in their honor. Uh, to leave an impact, uh, to help me remember them. So one of the things I did late last year, uh, was put on a tails on trails, fundraising hike. So we raised money, uh, through a fundraising hike and we gave that money to people who are struggling to pay their, their vet bills, but I want to do more.
And so I was trying to think of like, what would. What would be the, the biggest benefit for cat owners out there as well as myself, because I have two new cats, Nico and Milo, who are one years old. And so what I came up with was learning more about cat wellness, feline wellness, and wanting to get that information out there.
There's a whole lot of information I didn't really realize when I had Mia and Nomar. things like the, the different types of nutrition and the ways you interact with your cat and play with them and what's going on in their mind and how your energy can affect their energy. Um, ways you can naturally treat certain illnesses like kidney disease, uh, and mobility and things like that.
So I decided to bring, I'm not an expert in cat health, but there are people out there who are experts. So I decided. to interview 21 experts in feline health, and I'm excited to put this summit together for you. Again, it's completely free, but I'm already learning different things, um, in terms of ways that I'm taking care of my new cats.
Um, when I had Mia and Nomar, for example, I only fed them kibble or dry food for the first 12 years of their life. And it wasn't until Mia one day woke up and she was throwing up and had diarrhea several times that morning where I had to take her to the vet and then eventually the ER. This was when, I believe when they were 12.
And I learned that I should be starting to feed them wet food because dry food contains a lot of carbohydrates and cats need protein. Dry food doesn't contain any moisture, any water, and cats need to stay hydrated, things like that. So just those types of things that I'm learning now, uh, even more with Nico and Milo from chatting with these 21, uh, feline experts.
So wet food. In general, you have to, you know, be, be cognizant of the ingredients, but in general, a wet food is better for a cat than dry food because it usually contains better ingredients and more moisture. However, you still have to check out the ingredients of wet food, whole foods. So like cooked whole foods is even better for your cat.
Um, other things like cats can really tell when we're down, when we're mad, when we're anxious, and they will feel that. Um, and it'll affect their health. So if we're stressed, they can be stressed. That can compromise their health. There are holistic ways to treat your pet through supplements and other things when actually I did some of that with Mia when she had arthritis and she lost a lot of her mobility.
I had a holistic vet come to my home and give her laser treatment and acupuncture, um, different ways that we can care for our seniors, different ways we can play with our cats, uh, and take them through this hunting sequence that I didn't really even think about or know about when I had Mia and no more.
th,:But again, it's, it's, uh, I'm, I'm really proud of what I put together. I think you're going to enjoy it at the very least, uh, listen to and watch. If you're watching on video on YouTube, you can watch it. If you're listening to my podcast, you can listen to it. At least take in these clips, uh, and get some information.
You're going to get great information from that, but I would love for you to sign up for. This free summit again, it's at feline wellness summit. com Once you sign up and get your free ticket, you'll get a an email from me confirming your ticket You're also going to have a chance. There is a kind of a upgraded pass I've called it give it a fancy name the vip whiskers pass and that'll give you ongoing access to all of the interviews the transcripts the Downloadable recordings of the videos and the audios as well as summary notes of each interview, which I find very valuable as well.
Some other kind of benefits, some resources and discounts to some of our speakers programs and coaching so you don't have to take advantage of that. I do just wanted to give you a heads up after you sign up for the free ticket, you have the opportunity to, um, the, the ongoing access to the recordings, the interviews with a free ticket, they're going to be available 24 hours for 24 hours for you to listen to.
So we're going to release six interviews a day, or excuse me, six interviews on that first day, February 10th. And then the other three days we'll have. Uh, five days of interviews. And again, you have 24 hours to, to watch them. But so that's what I've been doing, uh, over the last few months and why you haven't probably heard from me, uh, on my podcast, the cat dad show lately.
So again, I'll be providing the sample clips every day until the summit starts. And then. After the summit, I'm going to do a kind of a rebranding of this podcast. I'll tell you more about it, but we're going to focus a lot on senior cat wellness. So I hope you were with me for this ride. Thank you so much for tuning in.
If you have any questions, just get ahold of me and we'll see you soon.
